Red Squirrel tops poll
READERS of the British Philatelic Bulletin have voted the Red
Squirrel stamp from the Woodland Animals set as its favourite
British
stamp of 2004 with 186 votes. The close runner-up, Pine Marten
(179), was also from the same set of ten '1st' stamps issued
in September. |
Rowland Hill Awards
2004
The Rowland Hill Awards are in three categories: the British
Philatelic Trust Initiative, Philatelic Traders' Society Enterprise,
and Royal
Mail Innovation.

The PTS Award for Personal Contribution went to Martin
Townsend ... The final award, for Outstanding Contribution to Stamps
was made to the stamp designer Jeffery Matthews MBE, FCSD, FRSA,
who also received the coveted Phillips Gold Award.
Changes at Argyll Etkin
ARGYLL Etkin Limited, one of the world's leading philatelic, postal
history, and royalty dealers, has announced that Adam Cooke has joined
the company in which he has become the principal shareholder.
On April 22 2005, Argyll Etkin moved to new premises at 27 Regent
Street, Piccadilly Circus, London SW1Y 4UA; telephone and fax numbers
are unchanged.
Czeslaw Slania 1921-2005
THE world’s greatest and most prolific stamp engraver
died on March 17 2005 at the age of 83 after a lengthy illness.

Washington latest
WASHINGTON 2006, the international exhibition scheduled for May
27 to June 3 2006 in Washington, DC, reports that more than 185
dealers and postal administrations have reserved 144 booths as
of late February. A few booths remain in various locations at varying
prices. Interested dealers should contact bourse chairman Ken Martin
by e-mail at kpmartin@stamps.org as soon as possible.
The show website at http://www.washington-2006.org has been revamped
by the new webmaster, Randy Neil of Neil Creative Media Inc.
British and Australian World Heritage Sites stamps
ROYAL Mail and Australia Post have joined forces to produce World
Heritage Sites stamp sets, issued on April 21 2005.
